Daggerfish
Description: The swift swimming Daggerfish is a common sight in the cold depths of the massive Lake Orrin. These fish are recognized by the razor sharp bill that protrudes from its head. From Port Dakala to Thistledown, there are countless tales of unlucky fishermen who were skewered while just trying to pull in their nets. Despite the common belief, Daggerfish do not use their bill to pierce or stab but rather prefer to make several blindingly fast lacerations as they out maneuver their target with speed. On their own, Daggerfish are not considered much of a threat, as the fish are mostly docile but every so often several schools of these fish combine to feed in a bloody frenzy that can strip the carcasses of much larger creatures in moments. Traditionally these fish were referred to by the derogatory name of Dwarven Devil Drills as many who suffered from The Ruination sought to blame the nearly decimated Dwarven population for any wrongs. It was not until famed researcher Doctor Dangle Gloomleaf discovered the fossilized remains of these fish far to the north of Lake Orrin, where the fish no longer had a population. Dangle assumed the changing landscape and the formation of Lake Orrin literally washed these fish from their traditional habitat. So while the Dwarves did not create the fish, they were ultimately to blame for their rapid spread throughout Lake Orrin.
